Agglomeration, social capital and interorganizational ambidexterity in tourist districts

Knowledge is a basic factor of competitiveness with firm’s exploration and exploitation capabilities acting as the main antecedents innovation. However, firm has two options to obtain new knowledge: internal generation external acquisition. This paper analyzes how tourism firms located in tourist districts develop ambidexterity through combination co-exploration co-exploitation. Specifically, we study features that characterize district, such level institutional agglomeration, affect development co-exploitation capabilities, taking into account mediation effect social capital. The population under includes all Spanish hotels coastal towns, making total sample 210 establishments. results confirm agglomeration positive impact on hotels.
